MAWB & HAWB
Master Air Waybill (MAWB): The Master Air Waybill is a transportation document issued by the main air carrier or their agent. It covers the entire shipment of goods and serves as a contract for carriage between the shipper and the airline. The MAWB is used in airfreight and typically issued to the party that has arranged for the transportation of the goods, such as a freight forwarder or the principal shipping party. House Air Waybill (HAWB): The House Air Waybill is a separate air waybill issued by a freight forwarder. It is used when a freight forwarder consolidates multiple smaller shipments from different shippers into one larger shipment for air transportation. The freight forwarder then coordinates with the main air carrier using a Master Air Waybill to facilitate the transportation of the consolidated shipment.
